New 131 Custom Lures Testing Session
Today started out more as a maintenance day than a fishing trip. First mate Landen and I spent the morning working on the boat fixing the wash down pump and repairing a leaking livewell drain. Once we wrapped that up, we decided to head over to the Clam River and test some new custom-painted Mini Shadow Raps in a few Atlantic Salmon color patterns I’ve been working on for 131 Custom Lures.

The test session turned into a pretty awesome afternoon. Landen caught a nice Atlantic Salmon and missed a couple more. I managed to land one of my biggest smallmouth bass along with an Atlantic Salmon of my own and missed a few more fish as well.

One thing we found interesting was the fish seemed to prefer a slow steady retrieve while casting 45 degrees downstream instead of aggressively jerking the bait back like you’d normally expect with a jerk bait. Always cool learning something new on the water.
Overall, a successful day testing new colors and patterns on Torch Lake’s Clam River system!
